Take Transit

It’s never been easier to take transit in and around Marin County:

Marin Transit runs buses within Marin County and provides convenient online planning features including real-time departure and trip planning tools. Discounted fares are available for youth, seniors, and riders with disabilities. College of Marin Students even ride free!

Golden Gate Transit offers regional bus service connecting Marin, Sonoma, San Francisco, and the East Bay. Discounts are available for seniors, youth, riders with disabilities, and those receiving Medicare.

Beat the highway traffic with a boat ride! Ferries depart from Larkspur, Sausalito, and Tiburon to San Francisco. Find more information on schedules and fares from Golden Gate Ferry. If you have to drive to the ferry terminal, Golden Gate Ferry provides detailed parking information for each ferry terminal.

Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) connects Sonoma County to major employment centers in Marin County. SMART allows bikes on board and offers bike parking and secure bike lockers at stations. Parking information for each station is available online.

Clipper Cards – Clipper is accepted on almost all transportation services in the Bay Area. Clipper offers discounts for seniors, youth, riders with disabilities, those receiving Medicare, and low-income households.

Park & Ride Lots – There are several park & ride lots in Marin County and the greater Bay Area that are served by transit. Park there and catch the bus!
