Make all your transit trips seamless! Clipper card offers a convenient and secure option to access transit services throughout the SF Bay Area by using one single card. Youth, seniors and riders with disabilities can receive reduced fares and access to discounted passes. Riders age 5-18 or 65 and over can apply for a Youth or Senior Clipper card.

Riders under age 65 with qualifying disabilities can apply for a Regional Transportation Connection (RTC) Clipper card. It works like any other Clipper card. Just load it with any combination of cash value and discounted passes. You can also use it as a photo ID when paying with cash.

Clipper START is an 18-month pilot program initiated by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) that uses the Clipper transit fare payment system to reduce the cost of transportation for low-income adults.

The new phase of Clipper START was launched on November 23, 2020. To qualify a person must be a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, be 19-64 years old, not have an RTC Clipper Card for people with disabilities, and have a household income of 200% of the federal poverty level or less. Sign up for a Clipper Card for a discount off the adult cash fare when using a Clipper card for inter-county travel (20% discount) or when traveling within Marin County (10% discount). The Clipper Start program also offers a 50% fare discount to low-income adult riders age 19-64, whose household incomes are no more than twice the federal poverty level (for example, $52,400 for a family of four).
